Resumen:
Este artículo constituye una aproximación a la manera en que operan las normas al interior del hospital: como éstas se presentan a los agentes, la forma en que son interiorizadas o confrontadas por ellos, y especialmente las consecuencias que tienen al interior de este espacio, considerando que las normas no se reducen a un reglamento, sino que corresponden a mandatos sociales y culturales generados en el mismo ambiente. El estudio utiliza un enfoque cualitativo que se centra, por medio de entrevistas, en la interacción de las visitas y el personal de un hospital de enfermedades infecciosas. Estos dos agentes reproducen la estructura social a través de su discurso, dando cuenta de la influencia de jerarquías y prejuicios en las relaciones sociales, así como de procesos de “modernización de la salud” y “humanización de la salud” que se transforman en fuente de tensión por producir al mismo tiempo el distanciamiento de los actores (limitando al máximo su interacción) y una situación de doble vigilancia: el control ejercido desde el personal médico a las visitas y desde las visitas al personal.

Abstract:
Influence of the norms in social interactions between visitors and medical staff in Lucio Córdova's Hospital for Contagious Diseases
This article is an approach to the manners in which rules operate inside a hospital: how they are presented to the people, how are accepted o rejected by them, and specially the consequences that they have in this space, acknowledging that norms are not just contained in a written set of rules, but mostly they are part of cultural and social production originated in this environment. The study uses a qualitative orientation that focuses, with the help of interviews, in the interaction between visitors and the medical staff of a hospital of contagious diseases. These two actors through their speech reproduced the social structure letting us see how hierarchy and prejudices influence the social relationships, and also how the processes of "health modernization" and "health humanization" transformed themselves in source of tension by enlarging the distance of the actors involved (restricting at the maximum their interaction) and at the same time producing a situation of double vigilance: the control exercise by the medical staff to the visitors and from de visitors to the staff.
